When Steve Spurrier roamed the sidelines for the Gators, he had certain games where he could just feel that he was in a coaching groove. The ball plays were strung together flawlessly, the game management was crisp, and the score was lopsided.
In those moments, he was known to pull a peculiar move: awarding himself a game ball for his contribution to the team’s victory.
