Who let the Dawgs out?
Going to a game at Georgia is a conflict of emotions for me. As a Florida alum, I’m on edge knowing I’m in enemy territory to watch a team I loathe. As a connoisseur of college towns, I’m excited to visit one of the best in the country. And as someone who spent 4 of the best years of my life living in Atlanta, it can also be a reunion with some of the best people I know.
It’s that last factor that produced the Tailgater of the Week for the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry: my former roommate, Dave, and the folks at CrowdStrike, who hooked us up with smoked wings, cold beverages, and even some much-needed air conditioning aboard their RV.
But most important was the opportunity to reconnect with old friends I don’t get to see nearly enough anymore, the overarching theme of my entire weekend in Athens.
In the end, that’s really what makes tailgating so special: friends and families reuniting over food and football. It was the perfect way to ease into my belated start to the season.
